Violet

Sometimes, characters turn on incredibly small physical things. Playing the Preacher required me to establish two versions of the same man: one in real life, and one in Violet's imagination. During a one-on-one physicality rehearsal with the director, I discovered that I could grow both men out of the difference between reaching with my palms up (dream Preacher) vs palms down (real Preacher). I also got to play a bus driver, where the entire character grew out of a costume piece. The hat wasn't secure on my head, leading to a hunched over, 90-year-old man as I tried to keep it from falling off.
